New-York-City-Skyline-at-Night                                          New York Fashion Week “If you can make it there you’ll make it anywhere!”

Designers from all over the world scurry about the showrooms setting up displays to show off their precious designs. Who will have the top style ? Who will wow the buyers? As Frank Sinatra put it who will be ” King Of The Hill” Or should we say QUEEN “Top Of The Heap”

This week check out our daily post as we get the inside scoop on New York Fashion Week, by asking Heather Siegel the Co Owner/Buyer of one of the top Prom and Pageant stores in the USA and the biggest store in New England, What her thoughts are on the week she spent in “The City That Never Sleeps”

Q. What is it that you love the most about New York Fashion Week?

A. I love the excitement of New York City!  It was an honor to be part of that special group of stores that were personally invited to NYFW by Sherri Hill the most recognized designer in the prom industry . The Ultimate, her largest store in New England, got us this special invite.  It was very exciting to be amongst the press photographing celebrities, such as Sadie Robertson of Duck Dynasty fame, Olivia Jordan, Miss USA and Katherine Haik, Miss Teen USA.  I even got my picture taken with Carson Kressley, star of “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy”

Sounds like she had a blast!  Be sure to check back tomorrow to get the answer to our next question. What are the hottest trends that we should expect to see for Spring 2016?

Here is a sneak peek at Sherri Hills Spring 2016 collection Enjoy!

New York Fashion Week and Market Day 2

Market is where all the trends are set for the upcoming spring 2016 season.

We asked Heather Co owner/Buyer of The Ultimate . What are the hottest trends that we should expect to see for Spring 2016?

A. Neoprene is new. Do you remember the scuba dive fabric of the Body Glove days? What a fit! Floral is big for prom again. Sherri Hill is one of the designers showing beautiful floral prints in her collection.
Screenshot_2015-09-20-09-55-05-1Pants are in! All of the popular designers, Jovani, LaFemme, Alyce Paris, Tony Bowls, Jonathan Kayne and Blush, to name a few, are showing pants in their Prom 2016 lines. I think most girls still prefer gowns for prom, but we may see a few of the daring wearing pants. I also ordered some very different and beautiful looks for our plus size prom girl.

Q. We always look forward to seeing the top designers like Sherri Hill, Jovani, MacDuggal ,Tony Bowls, and Lafemme. Was there a dark horse so to say, a designer that totally wowed you at market?

A. We do carry a huge selection from all the top designers, but I am always searching for something new and exciting for our customers that they won’t see anywhere else. I go to shows all around the country and see lines from Europe as well.  This year I was wowed by a few newbies ,Azzure is one of the new companies  that you will see in our store soon!

Q. You have been in the industry for almost 50 yrs. What keeps you so Passionate ?

Question Of The Day Fashion Business

We ask Heather Co Owner of The Ultimate a few questions on how they continue to be ranked the #1 Prom and Pageant store in New England year after year.

FB_IMG_1443023807868It is pretty impressive to me how long The Ultimate has been in business. From a small store in the basement of a Revere Ma. home to an amazingly beautiful and enormous store  in Peabody Ma. with over 8000 dresses and gowns in stock. Lets see what she has to say.

Q. You have been in the industry for almost 50 yrs. What keeps you so Passionate ?

A. I have always been passionate about fashion, searching for the right styles, bringing them into the store and seeing the looks on our customers faces when they try on that special dress. The excitement of that young girl going to her first event, her Bat Mitzvah, Sweet 16, Semi Formal, or her first Prom. Seeing the happy tear in mom’s eyes, as she looks at her baby all dressed up! A grandmother buying a beautiful dress for her granddaughter’s wedding. The prom girls, the pageant girls, our happy customers…these are the things that keep me passionate about my business.

Q. From a small store your mom Frances Merlino started in your basement to an amazingly beautiful store with 25 dressing rooms. How have your kept your business so successful?

A. I attribute our success to a few things…always staying ahead of the times in fashion and FB_IMG_1441635502255never being afraid to change, carrying something for everyone…from simple and sweet to daring and sexy…. a beautiful store where customers enjoy shopping. What sets us apart is a fabulous staff who makes sure every customer looks and feels beautiful The Ultimate Way!

Some heartfelt and great answers from Heather . You can definitely tell she loves what she does . Tomorrow we will  answer the last question in our series, so check back to find out how Heather answered this question
